WORSHIP
About Our Services
Our Sunday morning worship service is intentionally planned by our ministerial staff to create an atmosphere which combines contemplation and praise. We like to describe ourselves as traditional but not stuffy.
At First Baptist, we follow the church year and the Revised Common Lectionary; this provides a natural rhythm for the seasons of our life together. We also strive to incorporate a variety of elements and backgrounds into the service to make our worship more meaningful.
At the 8:45 AM service, we have a Praise Team that leads songs on a weekly basis. Congregational singing is accompanied by various acoustic instruments. The songs are contemporary and upbeat.
During the 11:00 AM service, the Sanctuary Choir provides the primary music leadership in worship. The choir is often joined by the Instrumental Ensemble, the Adult Ensemble, or the hand-bell choir. Varied anthems from the past and the present bring honor and dignity to the One that we worship. The Zimmer Pipe Organ provides accompaniment for congregational hymn singing, and the Steinway Grand Piano is used throughout all services to enhance the worship experience.
