Christmas is all about giving. Yet many children around the world who suffer from war, poverty, natural disaster, illness or neglect will not receive even one small gift at Christmas. And these children may never know of God’s example of the perfect gift – His only Son, Jesus Christ.
Each year, First Baptist Church dedicates approximately 250 shoe box gifts to OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD, a project of Samaritan’s Purse. Founded on the principle that a gift is tangible evidence that someone loves and cares for us, OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD delivers more that 6.5 million shoe box gifts around the globe each year. And each box contains information that teaches the recipient about God’s love for them.
Please, help us spread hope and joy to children around the world! Start collecting your items for your shoe box gifts today. Some suggested items are:
- Small toys: cars, balls, dolls, harmonicas, yo-yo’s
- School supplies: pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons
- Hygiene items: toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, washcloth
- Other: hard candy, lollipops, flashlights, sunglasses, T-shirts
Shoe box gifts are collected around the second week of October each year. For more information about Samaritan’s Purse and how you can contribute, visit www.samaritanspurse.org or pick-up a brochure in the FBC office.
